At the moment our only option is to dance from home, whether that be in our bedroom, in our kitchen or in our garden, you name it - we’re dancing there! We’ve no doubt you’re missing dance classes as much as we are, so we’re going to try and make it easier for you to keep dancing! We’ve put together a list of virtual events and classes that will be available for you over the next week so you can make the most out of some of the free dance classes and workouts!
No doubt you’ve seen (and hopefully participated!) in some of the Instagram Lives classes we’ve arranged on our page, @movedancewear, with the help of our brand ambassadors @salliejayne @camillebracher and Move Dance model @alisoneager! Our Move Dance model, Alison, hosted our first live class, a 30 minutes Ballet Barre session, take a look down our feed for a shortened version. Sallie gave us a centre barre contemporary ballet session which we LOVED and Camille worked us hard with a yoga-inspired workout! We even had a commercial class by @livquantrill who recently performed at the BRIT Awards alongside Mabel! Last but not least, did you catch our brilliant Q&A session with @bethanykingsleygarner, Principal Ballerina at Scottish Ballet! If you haven’t managed to watch and participate, don’t worry! Both Alison and Sallie’s classes are now available for you to watch anytime on our IGTV! And we’ve plenty more lined up for you! So be sure to check our page every day to see what’s coming up! We’re working hard so you can have more dancing fun!
We also have a fun #lockdownthrowdown challenge for you! Fancy the chance to win £100 to spend with us? All you have to do is film yourself performing the routine as shown by our brand ambassador, Sallie Jayne, and upload it to Instagram or Tik Tok with a song you think the routine fits with! Don’t forget to tag us @movedancewear and use the hashtag #lockdownthrowdown. The competition closes on 10th April. Good Luck! We can’t wait to see your performances!
It’s not just on @movedancewear that you can find a variety of classes too! We’ve also put together this quick round-up of live classes and dance-related fun that you can participate in wherever you are!
Our Brand Ambassadors
Our brand ambassador, @sanderblommaert has been putting on live classes via Instagram at 11 o’clock every morning. Sander is an ex-First Artist at the Royal Ballet and now teaches at Elmhurst Ballet School… so you won’t want to miss out on a class from him!
Some of our other brand ambassadors and Move Dance Models @salliejayne @camillebracher and @alisoneager are also providing classes and workouts on their Instagram accounts.
Scottish Ballet is putting on Dance Health Classes at the moment, be sure to check out their page, @scottishballet, for more information.
RAD’s Silver Swan initiative is aimed at senior dancers of all abilities. Every Wednesday at 1 o’clock they are bringing ballet to your home! Head to their Instagram, Facebook or YouTube page to participate in a range of ballet exercises aimed at over 55s. For more information about the classes click here.
Of course you’ve heard about Diversity, but have you heard about @20dvofficial? A digital dance studio bringing you online tutorials from the Diversity members themselves! And the best bit? It’s completely free until 1st May, so make sure you check it out!
Joshua Base Pilmore
Nothing stops @joshuabasepilmore from dancing, he’s still releasing new combos for both intermediate and advanced dancers. Head over to Patreon by following the link in his bio to discover more and sign up!
Adam Garcia is treating us to a beginners tap class on his Instagram, @thatadamgarcia on Friday afternoon at half past 2. Ever fancied learning the basics of tap dancing? Now’s your chance, get the whole family involved in this fun and entertaining class!
Oti Mabuse has been providing us with dance classes over on her Instagram. It’s perfect really that Oti’s husband is a professional dancer too, so they’re getting the most out of being stuck inside and providing us with dance along classes!
Dianne Buswell, like Oti, has been doing Instagram Live classes with both her ex Strictly partner and real-life partner Joe Sugg! Dianne has covered a range of styles from jazz to street! She’s even been putting on some dance classes for younger dancers, so dance mums - you know where to go!
Dancewear brands are also putting on classes via Instagram Live. Bloch has guest appearances from dancers to teach ballet classes and last week they put on a brilliant tap class! Be sure to check @bloch_eu out every day for what they’re getting up to!
Make sure to keep your eyes peeled on Royal Ballet accounts too, they’re sharing lots of behind the scenes content and rehearsal videos that you won’t want to miss!
Be sure to check out other dancers and choreographers' Instagram pages too as often they decide a few hours prior to go live and teach a class or do a Q&A! For example, @danewilliambates has put on some contemporary classes and Q&A’s but usually announces these on the day or the day before!
So there are a few options to keep you busy and more importantly keep you dancing safely over the next week! Make sure to tag us in your dancing photos and videos as there’s nothing we love more than seeing that you’re still dancing during these tough times! Tag us @movedancewear and keep your eyes peeled - you might just see yourself on our Instagram page!
Stay Home, Stay Safe and Stay Dancing!
