Meet Model and Brand Ambassador Sallie Jayne

By Move Dance on 3rd Oct 2019

Sallie has been modelling for Move Dance for the past year - you may have seen her most recently looking fierce in our new Move Dance Empower Collection. We are so excited to announce that she is the latest Brand Ambassador for Move Dance too!

We sat down with Sallie for a quick chat so we could answer a few questions which we knew you’d be dying to know the answers to!

How old are you and where are you from?

I’m 22 and originally from Preston but I’ve lived in London for the past year and a half.

Have you graded in any dance styles?

I have distinction in Primary to Advanced 2 Ballet RAD and ISTD, Modern, Bronze Jazz and Tap.

When did you start dancing?

I started when I was two - I was invited into my sister’s ballet class because I was causing too much chaos in the waiting room!

What made you fall in love with dance?

Watching Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and the Alvin Ailey Company as a kid! I went to the theatre a lot with my friends and family to see musicals - I fell in love with everyone in the theatre production of Wicked.

What’s your favourite dance style?

I love commercial contemporary.

What dance style are you focused on?

I’m focused on musical theatre jazz and commercial at the moment to really help me book jobs and broaden my abilities! But during the week I take such a variety of classes including ballet, contemporary, heels, jazz and commercial!

Which dance school did you go to?

I trained at Whittaker’s Dance and Drama school in Blackpool until the age of 9. I then auditioned and gained a place on the CAT Scheme at Northern Ballet Academy in Leeds where I studied classical ballet and contemporary. I graduated from there in 2013 and went on to do my Vocational training at Northern Ballet School in Manchester, studying ballet, musical theatre, contemporary and many other styles.

What’s your ideal dance job?

Being in the West End or dancing on tour for an artist like Robbie Williams!

What do you currently have in the pipeline over the next few months?

I am going on tour in September with Ransack dance company performing in Murmur. I play ‘The Girl in the Red Dress’. My role involves singing, dancing and playing the guitar. I have also booked showgirl contracts in Germany and will be performing at The London Palladium from November- VERY exciting!

What’s your favourite dance pose?

If in doubt... tilt it out!

Have you modelled for anyone other than Move Dance?

I have modelled for some sports brands and clothing companies however Move Dance is the only dance brand I’ve modelled for.

Who’s your dance idol?

I love Pink. I know she’s a Pop artist and she’s not technically a dancer, but she really inspires me because she throws herself into everything she does. She works hard and gets what she wants! Her dance in her music video ‘Try’ is so powerful!

Do you have a favourite dance routine or song to dance to?

I am just about to film a dance to ‘River’ by Bishop Briggs for my YouTube channel. I am OBSESSED with this song! The beats and the choreography I have done to it just makes me feel so good!

What your favourite cheesy party dance?

I am a fan of the sprinkler move or the worm!

What’s an interesting fact about you?

I play the guitar, piano and the flute! I’ve also been to about 45 countries in the world so far!

So there you have it! Everything you need to know Sallie. Don’t forget to keep up to date on our socials to see Sallie’s content!
