Pointe shoes can be purchased through a range of sizes and widths to match your variety of foot shape, with a stiffened shank and box to help spread the weight of the dancer’s body away from the toes. Foot shapes can vary from high or low arch to high or low profile, and pointe shoes are designed to accommodate these different foot structures. A short, harder and more supportive box is generally preferable for beginners, whilst shoes with a stiffer shank and wider platform help stability, and a soft block shoe is ideal for any dancer transitioning from ballet shoes to point shoes.
