2017 Highlights

Our best moments of this year

We’ve had so many exciting moments this year, so it’s been really fun having a nostalgic look back at our achievements from this year. We’ve looked at each season of change that we’ve celebrated in 2017. You may discover things about Move that you didn’t even know, so keep reading to find out what our biggest and best moments of 2017 were!

Winter

10th birthday!

At the start of 2017 we celebrated our 10th birthday. That’s 10 years of Move Dancewear, including three different shop locations and an even bigger warehouse! Our team keeps growing and so does our fans base - we’ve got Move fans popping up in different locations all around the world!

We celebrated by throwing a company wide birthday party; we had a pretty pink birthday cake with edible pointe shoes on top. We’re so grateful so the love and support we receive from our dancers, we couldn’t have made it to 10 without them!

Summer

Annual catalogue photoshoot

We do our catalogue photoshoots annually and absolutely love taking the team at HQ and the models along. This summer’s shoot was at Stoller Hall in Manchester. It was a day packed full of creativity with our different models, with lots of different sets and poses making our photos that little bit extra special. All models had a stylist team who worked really hard to create beautiful hair and makeup. It’s been 6 months since that shoot, but we photographed a huge stack of products so you may not have even seen them all yet on the website!

Easier shopping

Our priority is always to optimise our site for the best shopping experience possible. Our in-house tech team worked hard this year to unleash slicker online shopping this year and added benefits like customer accounts. Customers can now check out much faster, and even create a customer account which collects information conveniently, like a record of all past orders. By seeing an order history in one place, it means that our customers can now see their favourite items they’ve ordered in the past and place the order again! Our customer accounts also allow shoppers to keep control of their data and update their preferences. We love to keep our shoppers happy!

Yearbook competition

The yearbook competition 2017 was back by popular demand for the third time. We asked our followers to submit photos of themselves dancing, but we kept the photo submission requirements very broad so as to be inclusive of everybody. That meant that we got a real mix of different entries, ranging from professional ballerinas to hip-hop dancers, and so many other cool dance styles. To enter, you had to submit an image via the submission form on the yearbook page on our website or by using #MoveYearbook2017 on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We had a total of 356 entrants and really enjoyed looking through them all to choose our winners who would make it into the book, and our front cover winner. 

Autumn

4 new brands

We introduced 4 new brands this autumn because it’s always our goal to remain dynamic in the clothing choices that we offer our customers. We know from designing our own Move and Alegra dance clothing lines how quickly a dancer’s requirements or style can change, so we always want to offer clothing to suit every dance style and age of dancer. We’ve grown to stock 36 brands, and we’re proud to say that we are always on the look-out for new and exciting brands.

Non Posso, Ho Danza

We were so keen to offer dancewear by this Italian brand because it was so edgy, and like nothing we’d ever seen available before for street dancers. They’re designs are packed with so much attitude that you probably won’t be able to resist wearing them outside of the gym.

Dansez

This brand brings fitness wear that’s not dance style specific, which means you can wear it outside of class for any kind of workout! They’re a UK brand, which we’re always a fan of!

Ballet Rosa

If you’ve been looking for premium ballet wear for class or for more fashion wear, this brand is the one for you! Styles by this brand are unique to other leotards that we offer. Their range of warm ups and other dance clothes also prove how functional dancewear can still be stylish!

Ray Rose

Ray Rose offer unique dance shoes designs that are right on-trend. The shoes that they offer stay up-to-date with fashion trends in ballroom, latin, salsa, tango, and other similar dance styles. If you’re looking for a dance shoe with a difference, then shop this brand.

Gymnastics photoshoot

We had so much fun this autumn with our Alegra models Yasmin and Ruby! We did the first part of the shoot in our studio then moved over to Salford Gymnastics club to get some live action shots of aerials and our gymnasts in action. We also wanted to see the girls doing what they love, to then be able to show you! It’s also important to us to see how our clothing performs in real life, so we asked the girls to train as normal on the beam and bars.

Alegra expansion

We added 52 new styles to Alegra gymnastics this autumn. That included: leotards, shorts and crop tops. We’re really proud of our Alegra gymnastics range, because it offers our gymnasts high quality gym wear at an affordable price!

This winter we brought out some limited edition gymnastics leotards. Our never-to-be-seen-again limited edition styles absolutely flew off the shelves this winter! But don’t fret, our new foil techniques with be making their way into other styles!

Move expansion

Our Move range grew to include 25 new styles, including trendy fashion leotards and uniform essentials. That included: mesh leotards, long and short skirts, skorts, new crop and long teen leggings styles and ballet wraps. We also expanded the teen line to include some adult styles in teen sizes to allow our teen dancers to get the best fit in their dancewear.

Winter

Yearbook winner

We announced the winner of the yearbook competition this December. There was only one front cover winner, and that was couple Judita Bock and Christian Bock with their fantastic acro pose. Our 28 page yearbook includes a variety of dance styles, and we always keep a copy at hand to see some amazing real talent of our followers.

We’re now looking forward into the New Year of 2018. Exciting new products and challenges.
