Starting out at tap dancing may seem so complicated when you discover the huge variety of tap shoes available. Generally leather shoes are preferred as the material allows your foot to breathe better than man-made materials, and is stronger and more durable. Other features for optimum comfort and wear include padded insole linings, high performance sock fabrics to wick away moisture, and even Kashmir linings. A popular style is the oxford shoe for men and women, as it has a classic look and is suitable for a variety of tap dance styles. There are a number of heel types and heights, as well and lace up, or buckle fastenings on offer.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. For me it was so nice to have some time off during the festive season. Last year had been so hectic I think some family time was well and truly needed. As much as it’s important to work hard and dedicate yourself to what you do, it’s also essential that you take some time out to re charge and find that fresh drive for the New Year. I’m excited for what 2012 has in store!
